Right on track...

"Right on track" and "Looks good" were the great words we heard from the ultrasound tech. today! The Dr was worried about preterm labor given my Mother's history with it-but we were reassured today that everything looks fine! My cervix isn't shortening and Evan is developing normally! Good news! She also said he weighs about 3 pounds now and my due date has moved to March 17th-St. Patty's Day! We were very relieved to hear the news today and so happy to see our little man one more time! :)

Baby Evan
28 weeks
These ultrasound photos were a Christmas gift from my Mom! Thanks Mom! We went to a special 4D ultrasound place in Moore, OK to "meet" Evan. It is truly amazing to see his little face! We think he has my nose and Billy's chubby baby cheeks! He is so precious and we can't wait to meet him!

We're in the third trimester now...and more anxious than ever to meet Evan! As I sit here and type it is currently about 3:30 am and I have been awake for over an hour with heartburn. YUCK!!! I never knew heartburn until I was pregnant...holy moly! I guess making a bean burrito before bed last night was a bad idea! Evan loves beans!!!
Although we can't wait to meet Evan-there is still so much to do! He needs to grow! At the last Dr's appointment we discussed my family history of premature birth-this raised a red flag for us. I was born at 32 weeks and my sister at 34. As a newborn, I stayed in the NICU for 3 1/2 weeks due to my underdeveloped lungs-so as a precautionary measure Dr. Fletcher gave me two steroid injections to promote lung development. She also ordered another ultrasound to check to make sure I haven't started dilating yet. I have had some Braxton-Hicks Contractions and pressure-so we shall see.
I am on Christmas Break from school and it couldn't have come at a better time. I am sure ready to rest! Next week is my baby shower and I am so excited! ;) It will be at Nissa's house and she's making me a giant burrito-GOD BLESS HER! Have the Rolaids ready!!! YUMMY!!! :)

Is that Evan smiling?

Funny story...so my adorable little neighbor-Shelby (3 years old) was talking to my belly today and informed me that she thought that Evan's shoe was untied! Cute, huh? She then proceeded to point to my belly button to ask me if that was the baby's eye! LOL :) Next...she pointed to my tiny stretch mark and asked if that was Evan's smile....ummm...NO!...but let's just call it that!

Evan Scott Barbero-19 weeks

Evan Scott Barbero
19 weeks

It's a boy!!!

Billy and I are so excited to announce that we will soon be welcoming a baby boy into our family! Baby Evan Scott Barbero is due March 14, 2010 and we can't wait to meet him!!!

I have been meaning to start a blog or journal about "Baby B" for awhile now and can't wait to share our pregnancy journey! I am currently 20 weeks-which marks the half way point for this pregnancy! It is so hard to believe and I have absolutely fallen in love with being pregnant. I wanted to share a few memories before I forget them (that seems to be happening a lot lately!)

July 8th- Positive Pregnancy Test- Billy was away at a conference in Baltimore and my Mom and Sister were with me when I took the test. I just knew I was pregnant-and it took only a second for the test to prove positive! I wanted to keep it a surprise for Billy-but I just couldn't contain my excitement-and I called him at his conference. He was excited but wanted me to make sure it was "for sure". That afternoon I went to the Doctor to confirm the pregnancy and the blood work proved that I most definitely was! We were overjoyed and I have found it hard to concentrate on anything other than my growing little peanut since!

August 6th-First Doctor's Appointment-This day marks the first day I "met" our baby! Billy was away again for work so my Mom (visiting from CA) went with me to the first appointment! After what seemed like forever in the waiting room I was finally called to go back and meet the Doctor-Dr. Fletcher. She gave us our baby's first ultrasound and we were able to hear the heartbeat for the first time! It is a moment I will never forget-I have never hear a sweeter sound than that of my little baby's heart-it brought tears to my eyes....We even got to meet little Baby B in 4-D! Mom took a video of the ultrasound and Dr. Fletcher gave us pictures. I immediately called Billy and held the phone up to the video so he could hear the heartbeat-he was surprised at how fast the heart was beating and couldn't wait to get home to see the pictures!

September 1st-Funny comment by student in class (13 weeks) Septemeber 1st is the day before my birthday and I had planned on telling my first grade students on my birthday about the baby. The day before my birthday a little girl asked me, "Mrs. Barbero, are you growing a baby in there?" I was a little shocked but thought her maybe her mother had told her (I had already told the parents). I asked her what made her say that. Her response was priceless "Your belly got fat!" Thank God I am actually pregnant!

September 2nd-My Birthday

I went to work on my birthday excited to share my baby news with my first graders. I read them the book, "The Night Before the Baby" and we talked about people they knew who were having a baby. (I have several mothers of children in my class who are currently pregnant or who have just given birth.) We also talked about how it needs to sound and feel around those people and what babies like and don't like. Then I told the kids that I was going to have a baby in March. Their faces were priceless-I only wish I had recorded them! They cheered and smiled and them proceeded to guess if I was having a boy or a girl and even tried to name the baby!

September 20th-First Prenatal Yoga Class

This day marks the first day of my prenatal yoga classes. I go once a week for an hour and fifteen minutes. We practice cleansing breaths, relaxation, and stretching. It gives me the chance to really connect with my baby and relax and strengthen my body.

October 19th- Gender Ultrasound

This date will forever be ingrained in my head! It seems like we waited forever for this day! It marks the date of our gender ultrasound! I went to work in the morning and the appointment was at 4:00-the day seemed to drag on but those first graders kept me on my toes! Seeing our baby again-and for the first time together was exciting! Nissa got to go to the ultrasound as well-the best Aunt ever! We were so excited to see the baby's little head, feet, and my favorite...his little hands! He was quite active and when the technician announced that she saw little boy parts we were actually quite surprised! We had guessed that we were having a girl-but God had a different plan-and we are having a boy! Watching our little man on the screen was breathtaking and exciting. We can't wait to meet him!
